This is Dr. Bolton's Maxharvest procedure after 11 months.

At 11 months there is zero detectability of a donor scar and the hair is at a 1 blade.
Patient received 6,000 plus hairs and his procedure lasted approximately 4 hours from start to finish.  FUE costs more, delivers much less hair, takes twice the amount of time to complete, and causes much more damage to the donor area.

This is helpful for patients to see that this is a process that takes time and patience.  It is not uncommon for patients to call after 2 months and wonder about their results.  "Where is my hair?"  It can take up to 18 months to get a final result.  You can see the improvement from 4 to 8 months.  From 8 to 18 months.  Not only did Dr. Bolton impact a large area in the back but he also impacted the front and the top.  You can scroll through this blog to see more examples of this case.

$2 Per Graft!

Too good to be true?

This is our typical conversation below, that we have with patients who are focusing their search on finding the cheapest doctor to do their procedure without considering their final result.

We try to educate the patient who is researching this procedure what they should consider before making a final decision.

The conversation below is in reference to a patient who is tempted to sign on with a doctor that is not featured on the site that is being advertised.  There are very few examples of the work shown and it is not clear whose work it is.  A corporation cannot do a hair transplant but they can own the photos of the work that was done by whomever and whenever.

Dear Prospective Patient:

Basically, the company you are asking about with the $2 graft sale  is  a "low price" marketing company. Only here the difference:

The _________ Instiitute is launching a per per click campaign online based on a $2 per graft price which seems REALLY attractive to the consumer. They "drive" sales based on a "low ball" price using the low low pricing to over ride the fact that they are simply just a marketing company. They "collect" or "book" as many patient's as possible for a week out of the month. Let's say 20 people all looking for the $2 graft price which sounds awesome. (and I agree this is a great sales strategy). And what this strategy does is help the prospect to "overlook" the fact that there are no real results shown on the website and no specific doctor, only low price. If these 20 patients are all paying on average $4,000, that turns into $80,000 for the week. They hire more staff from quite frankly anywhere they can get them just for that week. They then call one of their three doctors who are licensed in Colorado and say, "Hi Dr. X, I have $80,000 in business waiting for you in the middle of February. At 20% commission, that is $16,000 to you, we will pay for your flight and hotel, and you get away form the family grind back in Florida! How's that sound? The problem with this model is the following:

1) You will be sharing your surgery time with high numbers of additional patients. The doctor will spend very little time with you at all.

2) The staff will be seriously diluted. Let us give them some credit and say they have 2 staff members who are excellent! Ok, fine. But with 3 other patients, what staff are you getting that day? Is it the A+ staff? Or is it the brand new staff that has no experience? Because their overhead is going up they will be sub contracting the lowest possible paid staff.

3) The "bait & switch" - I am not accusing this company of doing this in any way. However, BUYER BEWARE! Here is what happens ever day in this industry. The doctor walks in and introduces himself before your procedure. He seems really nice. You feel very comfortable. However, although your "sales guy" was confident the doctor can get the job done with 1,800 grafts, the doctor seems to feel this morning because, ironically, he has some "extra time". It is your lucky day! He is confident that he can "fit" at least 3,000 grafts where you need the work! WOW! Exciting! And, oh by the way! It's your lucky day AGAIN! They are on sale! Your $2 low price, best in the industry graft price, just got cut in half! The additional 1,200 grafts are only $1 each! OMG! SIGN ME UP!

SO, you are looking at 1,800 grafts at $2 each = $3,600. Add to that another $1,200 (a steal of a deal) and you are at $5,000

4) POST OP KIT - You do want to heal right? I mean, you just spent $5,000, a hell of a deal to restore your hair. Well, the doctor recommends a graftcyte kit for perfect healing. It's only $300 (maybe $500). No problem right? Let's see that credit card again, ok? GREAT! By the way, we include this in our price.  Don't forget the laser comb ($800 - $3000?)  You need that and our special vitamin
mix  at $150 a month?  We sell no add - ons in our office.

Mr. Patient:

I am NOT saying this stuff is for sure at the hair clinic you chose. I am NOT accusing them of anything. You are a grown man and can think for your self and ask the right questions. I am just showing you a business model that alot of "surgical marketing companies" use to make money. There are many companies that using internet low price marketing to attract hair loss patients looking for a deal, however, this comapny will claim to have an office in different sates. They make you think they are a BIG company. In reality they are just collecting leads and selling them to doctors in different sates that are already doing this.

UPDATE!

A patient  asked me to help him ask questions to a prospective FUE doctor.

He is a class 7 (most extreme hair loss) who is comparing Dr. Bolton's method (Maxharvest Plus)
to an FUE procedure.

Questions to ask:

1.  Can you guarantee me that you and your staff will give 100% focus and attention during my procedure and not attend to anybody else?  We do.

2. Can you show me many (more then 50) one procedure results of men with my amount of hair loss and there results after one procedure?   We can.

3. Can you show me pictures of people like myself of one procedure results from the top looking down?  We can.

4.  From behind?  We can.

5.  How many HAIRS do you think you can get for me?  What is the breakdown of hairs per graft on average?  Will I average 1,2, or three hairs per graft?  With us 6-8 hairs per graft.

6.  How much coverage can you get me in one procedure?  What kind of density can I expect?

Will my density be 20% , 30%, , 40%, 50% or more of original density?

Dr. Bolton will get 30%(conservative estimate as many of our patients achieve much more as evidenced by our videos and pictures) or more density into the transplanted area for our patients who are class 7.

7.  How long do I sit in the chair for my procedure?  With us less then 6 hours.

8. What is the percentage of grafts that survive the removal process?
     With us over 95%

9.  Who removes the follicles from the donor area and what is their medical qualifications?
Dr. Brett Bolton  is the only one who will extract your follicles. He is a medical doctor.

10.  Is there a drop off in the ability to extract one follicle at a time after 5 hours?  Will the
person doing the extracting be as good the last 5 hours as he was the first 5 hours?

It takes Dr. Bolton approximately 15 minutes to harvest tissue and close the area.

11.  Is there just one person doing the extracting or more and what are their qualifications medically?
Nobody but Dr. Bolton does the extracting of donor hair.

12.  Is the fue really scarless?  Can you really work the next day with zero discomfort?
No it is not scarless. You can work but you probably will have discomfort more then ours.

Sitting in a chair and being injected for 8-10 hours is not pleasant.

13.  Do you think I would have a better result getting 10,000 hairs or 4,000(if you are lucky)   hairs?

Should be a no brainer, 10,000 hairs does more then 4,000.

14.  Will I get better density with grafts averaging 2-3 hairs per graft or 6-8 hairs per graft

       behind the hair line?

No brainer except they will probably say that is not going to look good and we answer that with our huge volume of patient photos/videos that they don't have.

15.  What percentage of the donor area is used when extracting follicles in Fue? (100%) Are                  follicles harvested from outside the donor area to get a higher yield? (yes)  What is the impact on the donor area if I come back for a second procedure? Will it be hard to get more hair? (Yes)  How  does that compare to a strip procedure. (poorly)  Does the amount harvested from one procedure to the next drop off significantly for a strip surgery? (no)   Because the donor is not
impacted in the way an FUE impacts the total donor area where a strip is a very small percentage
of the donor area.

In summary, we give more hair, in less time, get more coverage and better density and can show

that conclusively.  I appreciate your questions.

I think this blog largely written by our patients from around the world is extremely educational

Dr. Bolton Fixes Patient from Tampa

First picture on the left is of patient who had multiple procedures in Tampa.

His middle photo is of Dr. Bolton one procedure result and the one on the right is after
he had a second procedure with Dr. Bolton.  Dr. Bolton is limited on what he can do for
the patient as his donor hair was extremely limited from the doctors in Tampa.
Unfortunately, this is a high profile patient who requested anonymity and the full effect of what
Dr. Bolton accomplished for him is not seen due to the hiding of his facial features.

UPDATE!

Before

After

Donor area ten days after the procedure.

The patient had a completely shaved head when he came in for his procedure.
We videotaped his entire procedure with the patients permission, as he was super excited about getting his hair back.  This is a great example of being able to move a lot of hair in one procedure and leave a scar that is barely visible ten days after the procedure on what was previously a completely shaved head.  There is no way anyone will ever see his scar with the hair just a bit longer.  It certainly is not an issue as you see he now grows his hair out.  The FUE procedure could never get the coverage or density this patient was able to achieve in just one procedure.  All hair transplants will cause a scar.  The question is what type.  There is no such thing as a scarless procedure in hair restoration.  This scar is much less traumatic to the donor area then fue which has to use much more of the donor area to get
the hair and even goes outside the safe zone to yield hair.  The bottom line is, Dr. Bolton's is able to yield up to 14,000 hairs in one procedure that takes less then 6  hours and uses a fraction of the donor area compared to Fue which yields small amounts of hair while impacting the entire donor area and has to cheat to go  outside the donor area to get their hair.  It is bad enough to go bald once but I think it would be worse to pay for a procedure a go bald again?
