Making a Fair Comparison

A prospective patient told me they thought Dr. Bolton was priced too high.

I know that Dr. Bolton is more then competitive with other quality doctors and will get more substantial results with his technique.

Some things to consider when making your final decision.

Does your doctor specialize and only do hair restoration?

When you get a quote on price do you actually know how many hairs you get in total and how much tissue is being removed from the donor area?

Can the doctor guarantee you exclusive attention to you for the duration of your procedure. Meaning he is not seeing other patients or doing other procedures while you are having your procedure?

Do you know if the staff, who assists the doctor, is his permanent full-time staff and are they consistently working together? Most doctors who practice hair restoration have multiple procedures occurring simultaneously and have temporary staff employed to help them.

Make sure to ask to see the doctors one procedure only results. Many internet sites have multiple doctors contributing their work to the site and many not even work there any longer. Most before and after photos are not labeled as to how many procedures were done to get the final outcome. If it is not labeled as one procedure only, chances are that it is multiple procedures.

I can tell you if you are looking for a substantial result, and a quality experience, Dr. Bolton’s price is more than competitive with other quality doctors. The irony is that most people compare price by how many grafts they get without realizing a graft is a vague term. If there is a naturally occurring four hair graft wouldn’t be better if Dr. Bolton placed that behind the frontal hair line as opposed to another doctor who might take that same graft and subdivide the graft into two or four pieces? For someone who is not familiar with the intricacies of this procedure they would think they are getting more grafts without realizing that what actually occurred is that they didn’t get more hair they actually got smaller grafts with a higher damage rate(transection). The smaller the grafts are cut, the higher the damage rate and the less density you achieve.

Please let me know if you would like a list of references, complete with their photo?

I also recommend you go through our video testimonial section of our website and hear our patients talk about their one procedure results. We also have a video section on the incredible results of Dr. Bolton’s donor scar. See if you can find the scar. I bet you can’t. Hold other doctors to this high standard and your decision process will be much easier.

You can see my story at www.joshengoren.com

Thanks.

The real reason why we love our jobs

Yesterday was one of those days where you are fortunate enough to make a difference in a person's life. Typically, we have patients who are mildly upset about their hair loss as they approach middle age. Dr. Bolton reverses their hair loss and makes a nice impact in their appearance. But now and then you get the case where someone is in an accident and disfigured by their hair loss and Dr. Bolton restores their appearance(see our homepage for photos of Rahim). This is a case that is extremely rewarding for Dr. Bolton and staff. A patient that has suffered a tragedy and restores his looks is definitely a thrill for everyone involved.

Getting back to yesterday's patient. The patient is a young man just barely 19 years old. He was exposed to an enviornmental hazard three years prior and had suffered hair loss thinning as a result. The young man did not want to attend his prom nor take off his helmet when playing football due to his embarassment of having lost the ability to hide his scalp. The patient went to the corporate high volume hair transplant center in his state for help. They quoted the young man $12,000 plus. His Mom having been through a hardship with her entire family exposed to this enviornmental mishap was not in a position to pay that kind of money.

When Dr. Bolton heard of this young man's situation he offered to do the procedure at cost. The family drove over 1,000 miles to do the surgery and the patient was treated to a VIP experience which is standard for our patients. He was the primary focus of Dr. Bolton and staff because we limit our surgeries to just one per day ensuring quality, consistency and comfort.

Credit goes to Dr. Bolton and his staff for what I know will be a great result, the patient's Mom who was willing to sacrifice everything for her son, and finally, the patient himself for his positive outlook and not letting this difficulty beat him.

We will keep you posted on his progress and hopefully he might be kind enough to weigh in on his experience and results and help others in a similar situation.

Exciting Events in Dr. Bolton's Office

In this last week we had two separate cases where our patients flew in from South Dakota and Pittsburgh. What a great compliment to Dr. Bolton. Our patients, based on Dr. Bolton's reputation, and his website and most importantly, his results, flew in to South Florida to have a procedure.

I asked them what motivated them to go out of their way to choose Dr. Bolton. They replied they were attracted to Dr. Bolton's one procedure results. They also commented that compared to other doctors they were able to travel here with their spouse and still save money.

Basically, they were able to get 2-3 times the results (more hair moved), stay in beautiful South Florida on the beach, and save money.

Nice.

The Real Story on Hair loss Forums

What a great idea. A group of people get together and share experiences on their hair transplant procedure so you will have unbiased information on who to select for your procedure. In theory it is an awesome idea. In reality the two biggest sites are controlled by businessman who CHARGE doctors to be discussed on their sites. That is correct. To be discussed you have to pay to be in their membership alliance. If you don't pay, no matter how talented or exceptional your skills are you won't be mentioned unless it is in negative terms. I wonder how many people who read these forums are aware of that. Shouldn't there be a disclaimer that only those who pay to be a part of the alliance will be spoken about in positive terms and those that don't will be talked about in negative terms?
If I have a procedure and I want to write about my doctor in a complimentary way on their forum, unless it was with their doctors it will not be published.

These two sites rally against the big corporations who do these procedures withoust discerning the individual doctors who worked there. Ironically, four previous MHR doctors now are on the Bald Truth list of doctors who are now deemed OK. I'm sure there are some other doctors from other organizations who wouldn't pay Spencer who are now suddenly deemed OK to do your procedure once they pay to be on the list.
Even the "Gillenator" who is employed as an advocate for Bald Truth is actually a former employee of MHR. MHR is primarily responsible for that before and after photo Steve shows of himself. Where is the credit for that? I'm no cheerleader for the big corporations, I worked at MHR for almost ten years. I can tell you they did some things real well and others not so well. Just like any other business.
What it comes down to is basically who is your doctor and the staff that works on you. How many cases per day will be done. You want to be the only case for the day. If you can't get that assurance then don't do it with that doctor because they are putting themselves before you.
What a different perspective people would have if they new this before they started reading those forums. They do not pass the smell test. Just ask Consumer Reports.

Why the Doctors Staff Matters

In ten years of answering thousands of questions from prospective patients you might think you have answered every question possible. That is mostly accurate except the one question I never got. "Who are your technicians and can you tell me about their abilities" Now that would be a great question. The little known secret, that is not so secret after the procedure is completed, is that the technicans are critical to your results.
Doctors who aspire to do multiple procedures in one day and employ large staffs are not advantageous to the patient. Advantage doctor,(cha ching $$$) disadvantage patient. Quality control is difficult at best with that much activity. We are changing people's lives not making burgers. If every one is focused on you for the day you will spend less time in the chair, get less injections, and your grafts won't be sitting off to the side waiting to be placed. The doctor will also recognize you when you come in for follow-up.
To put it simply, why be one of 5 surgeries for the day when you can have all the attention for yourself that you deserve on your big day.

Is FUE for You?

Follicular Unit Extraction is being touted on the net as a superior way of moving follicles from the donor area to the recepient area. In rare cases (minimal lifetime hair loss) it may be an acceptable option. Is it superior? For the doctor, yes. He gets to charge twice the price and has a part of the population who is searching for different and better as a captive audience. Is it better for the patient? If the patient doesn't mind spending twice as much for the procedure, getting less hair per procedure, and a much higher transection(damage rate) and have a different type of scar in the donor area, yes.

Don't drink the Kool-aide. Check out Dr. Bolton's followups and see if you can find the donor scar. Good-luck.

How to Reverse balding in one Procedure

Dr. Bolton has done it again. We can add Joel to the long list of satisfied patients who came in to see Dr. Bolton last year about his significant hair loss. Check out Joel's photos. You will have a difficult time finding the donor scar which is literally the same width as a fine line pencil line. We see so many people who have had bad experiences elsewhere with their scars but Dr. Bolton has a unique talent and ability to make the scar a non-issue. Dr. Bolton moved over 34 cm x 1 cm (approximately 6,500 hairs). This is more hair moved than other doctors largest procedures of 3,000 follicular mega-sessions. If you want more HAIR and dramatic results in just one procedure, Dr. Bolton is your doctor.

Have you heard bad things about Scarring?

Hair transplants have been around for over 50 years. Even in the last ten years the methods have improved dramatically. When you hear about bad experiences a lot occurred over ten years ago. People can still have a bad result but thankfully there are more quality doctors today than years ago. What sets Dr. Bolton apart from his peers is his unique ability to leave barely any scar visibility after surgery.

We had a patient who came in from another doctor after three surgeries. Like many patients we see, he lacked density in the area he wanted to improve and he had a significant scar after three surgeries. In one procedure, Dr. Bolton gave him more hair than the patient got in his previous three procedures and left him with a barely visible scar after 4 surgeries.

Dr. Bolton never ceases to amaze me.

Hair Transplant Myths

In ten years of meeting thousands of prospective patients, I have heard all the excuses of why men have lost hair. Very few guys will come in and say I'm losing my hair due to my genetics. It is curious to me that people would have a difficult time saying that. Most often the excuses are: I'm losing my hair because a cup of coffee fell on my head, I joined the military and they shaved my head and it never grew back, I played a lot of soccer and the ball wore my hair off, I wore a hat too much as a kid, the wind hitting my hair with the window open when I drive wore out my hair, there is a lot of stress in my life, etc. You can blame genetics for about 99% of all cases of hair loss. Just because your Dad and Grandfather have nice heads of hair does not guarantee you keeping your hair. In fact, there is no guarantee. Hair loss can be inherited from the Mom's side or your Father's side. It can skip generations. It is a genetic crap shoot.

The good news is you can do something about your hair loss. Today nobody has to accept being bald. You can have hair that lasts a lifetime.

Saving Money on a Hair Transplant not the best idea

We saw a gentleman today that I met originally six years ago. He told me since we met he has had FIVE hair transplants. I asked him why did he make the decision he did. He tried to save money. Ironically, now he has spent thousands more then he needed to and has the worst scar I've ever seen in ten years in working in this field. He still lacks density and now has a huge scar that he is trying to fix with a balloon.

Bottom line is if he went with Dr. Bolton in the beginning he would have had more density in one procedure than he got in five and he would have had a scar that would be practically invisible.

Parachutes, bullet proof vests, and hair transplants have to be the best. Anything less and you are asking for a bad result. Don't skimp on quality. All doctors and their staffs are not created equal.

One Procedure Only Results by Dr. Brett Bolton

People are amazed at the one procedure results Dr. Boilton is able to achieve for his patients. I am asked, "How does he do it?" Dr. Bolton has a whole website devoted to one procedure only results. His technique is to maximize density behind the hairline continuing through to the crown. He does this with multi-follicular unit bundles. Most doctors have their staff divide grafts into one or two hair grafts. Common sense should tell you that is not beneficial for you to achieve density. You need a graft that will get you density and naturalness. Of course, the frontal hairline would be strictly micro-grafts(one hair grafts). The balance of density and naturalness is what Dr. Bolton does best. See his one procedure results at www.greathairtransplants.com.

All the best.

Dr. Bolton's Unique Skills by Josh Engoren

My name is Josh Engoren and I am Dr. Bolton's Patient Adviser. I'll be updating you over the next weeks and months, hopefully bringing you useful information about the in's and out's of the hair transplant world. Before I do that I want you to know my opinion about about Dr. Bolton and his hair transplant clinic.

Dr. Bolton's skills are unique. Having worked in this field for the last ten years and having represented a few of the most famous and successful hair restoration doctors in the field, I can say without hesitation that Dr. Bolton is the most gifted.

If you want maximum density and do not want to do this procedure every year, Dr. Bolton is for you. If you had concerns about the donor scar you can put those fears to rest. Most hair stylists will not be able to find your fine line scar.

Dr. Bolton can guarantee you, unlike other practices, that you will spend less and get more. The industry standard of having one and two hair grafts spread through your scalp is not beneficial, which is why Dr. Bolton uses his technique of multiple follicular unit bundles for density. Dr. Bolton guarantees you are the only surgery for the day unlike other facilities where you may be one of many. For the best experience possible check out Dr. Boltons's website www.greathairtransplants.com
