Hair Transplant Follow Up 2 Months: What will I look like?

A hair transplant follow up is important for patients who have never had a procedure before.

A lot of people worry what they will look like in transition from the time they have the procedure until they get their results. The month to month change is subtle. The great thing about this procedure is that if you don't want anyone to know your business the change is subtle. At your hair transplant follow up we will gauge your progress and reassure you that you are just in the beginning stage. After one year, in contrast to where you started you will see a substantial difference. But month to month very slight but improving every day. For the next year after the procedure, you are now growing hair instead of losing hair. Very powerful.
The hair transplant follow up will ensure that you have an understanding of the process of this procedure.

To see Ryan prior to his 2 month follow up click on older posts below.

Hair Transplant Healing Time (Ten Days Later)

One of the most popular questions we get is "How long to hair transplant healing time?" You can see from this photo our patient has been able to go back to normal in a span of 10 days. The transplant healing time is consistent from patient to patient and only varies by a couple of days. The process is not difficult and many patients will find they are back to their normal routine within a week or less. Hair transplant healing time is consistent and definite and only a matter of time.

Sutures are ready to be removed. Note scar is thin as a paper's edge. It may appear wider but that is the area that was shaved to remove the donor strip. The actual scar line is practically invisible even after just ten days. The sutures will be removed and the hair around the scar will fill in. Healing will progress for one year.

Hair Transplant Procedure Post Op 5 days

In this case, the patient didn't mind shaving his area to be transplanted. This is how Ryan looked 5 days after his hair transplant procedure. You can already see the improvement in the looks of his scalp. It is not as angry or red and the crusts have started to harden and fall. The hair transplant procedure post op 5 days is the turning point from being noticeable to being hardly noticeable in the next few days. We tell our patients at this mid point to start washing less gently, don't be afraid to have direct contact when shampooing and to let the water hit your scalp directly. This will help heal your hair transplant procedure post op as fast as possible and enable you to go back to your normal routine.

Hair Transplant Cost(What most People Don't Know)

I get calls every day from people who want a quote on our graft price. What does a hair transplant cost? What they don't understand is that it is impossible to use graft price for an apple to apple comparison. Some people might experience a doctor who gives them mostly one hair grafts. So if you get 3,000 grafts it could equal 3,000 hairs. Another doctor can give you 2 hairs per graft for a total of 6,000 hairs. Which did you get? Most people have no idea. That is why asking how many grafts do I need or what is the cost is a ridiculous question. The better question to ask is how many hairs will I get and how will you divide them? Are you giving me mostly one and two hair grafts to fill a large area? Unfortunately, that is what will happen. Dr. Bolton uses specific measurements that are clear and cannot be altered or manipulated like a graft. For example, Dr. Bolton will want to take at least 35 cm x 1.5 cm for the average patient. With average density this should yield 7,000 hairs. This is the best method to measure hair transplant cost. You don't want one and two hair grafts to try and cover the large area behind the hair line. This is where Dr. Bolton will combine grafts together to achieve maximum density. This technique could lower the chance of repeated surgeries thus saving even more money.
See how the grafts are divided. You can divide the bigger grafts into smaller grafts. Most doctors will take the multiple follicular unit graft that has 6 hairs and divide it into three separate grafts of two hairs each or even six grafts of one hair each. Taking a six hair graft and cutting it down repeatedly increases the damage(transection) rate and takes away from the ability to get density. Once the hairs are separated you can never put them back as close as they were originally. This is why most people who have this procedure from other doctors get sparse results. That's why most people who have had hair restoration have to have so many procedures. They are always chasing density but the doctors inhibit that by giving you one and two hair grafts. Hair transplant cost cannot be determined using a graft as measurement.

This is Dr. Bolton's typical amount of hair he removes for his procedure. Sorry if it is too graphic, but if you are going to spend anywhere from $5,000-$40,000 for a hair transplant shouldn't you know what you are getting? Hair transplant cost varies from doctor to doctor and is very difficult to get an apple to apple comparison. The only way is by knowing the measurement of the donor strip taken and the total amount of hair.

Do you realize that people are getting half the length of that tissue(half the hair) and the doctor can easily make 3,000 grafts out of that tissue. So basically, you need to know how much tissue is taken and how many hairs you are getting. I've been in the hair restoration field for 12 years and nobody has ever asked me how much tissue is taken. It is the only way to ensure you get what you pay for. For a true comparison that is accurate and fair you need to ask length x width and total hair. A very simple and straight forward tool to utilize if you want to know true hair transplant cost. You have to wonder why it is not the universal standard. Could it be that doctors don't want you to know how to compare properly and actually know what you are paying for. My mom always told me "If you don't know what you are paying for you will always get less." Be careful, educate yourself and you will get what you pay for and will do well when it comes to determining hair transplant cost.

Dr. Bolton Achieves Perfect Hair Transplant Hairline

You might think Dr. Bolton didn't do a lot for this young man but when you see the photos below you will see Rolando was well on his way to having extensive hair loss. Rolando was proactive and didn't want to wait until his hair loss became more obvious. I have to rate this as one of the most incredible hair transplant hairline I've ever seen. The reasons are as follows:
1. Coarse wavy dark hair
2. Sharp recession of hair line
3. Patient is showing potential for considerable loss at a young age
4. Patient requests an agressive hair transplant hairline.
5. Patient is young
6. Patient has a light complexion

These are all factors that make for a difficult procedure if not in extremely capable and talented hands. The risk of error and poor judgement is common in these cases. Dr. Bolton and the patient knocked it out of the park on this result. There are doctors who are charging $30,000 per procedure who can't touch this result. This case wins the honor for the most perfect hair transplant hairline.

This Result is not Possible with Hair Transplant FUE

Great example of a young man who has great potential for a fantastic result. Hair transplant FUE would make this type of result impossible for the patient. If you have a great donor and a great doctor this is what is possible. If you don't have a great doctor, it doesn't matter how great your donor is, you won't get this result. Results like this are very rare. Most people can only dream about this result. If a doctor wants to do hair transplant FUE, they will charge significantly more and waste your potential. This is a great example of a doctor who did everything in the patient's best interest and got him incredible results. If you want significant results and you don't want to have endless days of sitting in a chair plucking one hair at a time because you think you won't have a scar, think again. The bad news is you will have a scar (similar to a plug scar) and you will have sparse results and spent many times the normal cost. Hair transplant FUE is great for the doctor who is trying to double his revenue and not good for the patient who is trying to double his hair.

Hair Transplant Travel Patient Corrective Hair Transplant Surgery

Unfortunately, there are more bad outcomes then good ones. The ability and talent of doctors in the field of hair restoration ranges from incompetent to excellent and everybody in between. Do not assume because someone is a doctor they are a good doctor or because they did a nice job on your wife's breasts they will do a good job on your hair. Be very careful in how you choose your doctor. Many of Dr. Bolton's current patients started out with different doctors who actually harmed them. Corrective hair transplant surgery is a big part of Dr,. Bolton's practice, unfortunately. Many hair transplant travel patients are able to find Dr. Bolton through internet searches and are amazed at his one procedure results and lack of scarring.

The patient today made a bad choice when he was enticed by a $2 per graft advertisement. There are even lower prices then that advertised. I can tell you they are not doing quality work at that price. Unfortunately, they are creating a lot of corrective hair transplant surgery patients who have to travel in to get fixed. Many patients will over look doctor's websites and not critically observe the work they offer. If before and afters don't match, if the lighting is not the same and the angles aren't perfect a red flag should go up. Also, does the site mention a specific doctor or a group name. I want to know the specifics of the doctor working on me and I want to see his work so I can avoid being a corrective hair transplant surgery. I also want to know before I am a hair transplant travel patient how many procedures it took for the doctor to go from the before and after photos he shows. Are they labelled? You need to know these basics to avoid being a corrective hair transplant surgery. f they were,

they wouldn't charge that price. Usually, to make up for the low cost they have to do multiple procedures. Some doctors might do ten in one day or actually work on multiple patients and procedures even while your case is happening. This patient found even though he spent $6,000 he didn't get any positive results. Actually, he was harmed with a big scar, pitting on his scalp and poor growth. The few hairs that did grow, didn't look natural.
The patient is only 24 and was traumatized by this experience. For now he wants to remain anonymous but promised when he gets his results he will share them with us.

Hair transplant Follow Up 2 Months

Two month hair transplant follow up after my procedure and new hairs are sprouting and I'm starting to see a bit more shaping and framing of my face and less forehead. I even tried to try a different style and comb it straight back. No evidence of transplant with Dr. Bolton. Very happy at this point and it is barely the beginning. The best is yet to come but at this point the growth is minimal but will continue to get new growth every month. The hair transplant follow up is done mainly to reassure the patient and make sure they have no concerns. It is an exciting stage of the procedure and the best results are yet to come. I can hardly wait for my next hair transplant follow up.

The Best Hair Transplant Doctor in Florida

This is a 22 year old patient that wants to keep his anonymity. At 21 going bald. At 22 he got his hair back after one procedure with Dr. Bolton's maximum hair and density procedure. It would be hard to believe that there is the best hair transplant doctor in Florida anywhere else but right here with Dr. Brett Bolton here in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

People are paying other doctors twice the money and getting half the results or minimal results. There is a huge segment of the patient population who actually get bad results. They were harmed by their doctor and got sparse results, unnatural results or bad scarring or all the above. Yes, it is possible to get good results but what we have seen is that patients are paying much more and not getting the density that Dr. Bolton achieves for his patients. If you are looking for the best hair transplant doctor in Florida then Dr. Bolton is your hair restoration surgeon.

Donor Scar

If you notice the suture line extends well past my ear. Most doctors don't take a strip that extends that far. They like to stay between the ears thus yielding significantly less hair. The donor scar when done properly by a top notch surgeon should not be an issue. The irony is Dr. Bolton will move more hair and leave a smaller donor scar. How is that possible? Dr. Bolton has a god given talent refined over thousands of cases and fifteen years that enables him to put his patient first.

We want our patients to have the most significant results possible. The more hair taken from the donor area will translate to either more coverage or density or both. Why leave hair in the donor area when you can put them to work in your areas of loss? When you have a doctor who can move more hair then others with a smaller donor scar, why not take advantage of that skill? You can see on Dr. Bolton's site more then 30 examples of his closure to the donor area. You will be impressed.

Hair Transplant Anxiety

For a lot of patients they will tell you the hardest part of the process is from the time they decide to do the procedure to the day they actually do it. This hair transplant anxiety is normal. Many people who have never had this procedure or any medical procedure tend to have hair transplant anxiety. The time in between for some is filled with apprehension and doubt. After the procedure is completed patients will say that the procedure wasn't like they thought it would be and that they actually enjoyed the process. For the patients who have apprehension it is usually because they may never had a prior medical procedure, they are uncomfortable in doctors' offices and don't like needles. If this is not the case, then your procedure will be a piece of cake. If you are the type who finds these aspects difficult you will see that the discomfort will be less then your apprehension. Hair transplant anxiety can be decreased by educating yourself about the procedure and watching some of the patients undergo their procedure. You will be surprised there is not a lot of difficult involved in having this procedure and after it is done the hair transplant anxiety will fade into the distance.

Best Hair Transplant Doctor

Two great doctors. Dr. Bolton was inspired by his Dad, who is also a doctor, to get in the profession of helping people. Dr. Bolton's Dad brought people into the world and Dr. Bolton helped them look their best. Both honorable professions. If you want the best hair transplant doctor possible it is Dr. Brett Bolton. Take the Pepsi challenge and hold up his one procedure results to anyone else. You will see that nobody gets more density and keeps the look absolutely natural better then the best hair transplant doctor in the world. Dr. Brett Bolton.

Hair Transplant Post Op 1 Month

This is my Hair Transplant post op at one month.

After one month you can see there is no sign that I had a procedure and in fact you can see beginning hair growth. The plan was to lower the frontal hair line and fill in the temporal peaks to take away the recession. Many people are afraid that after one month they may look strange or unnatural. The results are so minimal that it doesn't draw any attention to your appearance. Nobody will notice your hair transplant post op appearance at the 1 month mark.

FUE Hair Repair by Dr. Bolton 6 month follow Up (Update)

Dr. Bolton preps the donor area and prepares to excise the donor strip and eliminate the scars from the two prior procedures before Dr. Bolton. One linear scar from a procedure ten years ago and the polka dot scars from the FUE surgery a few years back. The FUE was and is presented to patient's as a scarless surgery. It is not.
September 30, 2011: The hair is cut short and there is no detectability of any donor scars despite the fact that this is the patient's third surgery. This is the patient's first surgery with Dr. Bolton who cleaned up the scars from the first two surgeries. This is another example of a patient who got more substantial results from one procedure in six months time then he received from his two prior procedures elsewhere.

Dr. Bolton had a FUE hair repair in the office today.
Patient paid a premium for FUE extraction and also had previous strip surgery elsewhere. The patient did tremendous research and travelled in for his procedure. One of the most knowledgeable patients we have ever met. Unfortunately, it was not translating to a significant result. We are confident that this procedure will surpass his two prior procedures considerably. He has promised that once he starts to get his results he will share his photos.
Note the FUE scars in the donor area. You can also see they took follicles from above the normal safe area. This is typical of FUE as many FUE doctors don't adhere to the normal accepted practices of ethical hair restoration surgeons. As this procedure becomes more popular due to the financial incentives and marketing of the "latest, cutting edge procedure" we will see many more FUE repair patients. It is unfortunate that people (doctors) are motivated by money and don't do what is in the best interest of their patients. If you believe that given a choice to make $15,000-$30,000 on one case as opposed to $10,000 a doctor will choose $10,000? This is the choice right now for doctors. Patient beware of all the FUE hair repair that will be coming down the pike in the next few years.
It is interesting to note that after 4 months this patient has already achieved stronger results then in his past two procedures for a fraction of the cost. The hair in the donor is short and there is no evidence of a donor scar despite the fact that this is his third surgery. Dr. Bolton removed his numerous prior scars from the two previous doctors and has left the patient with one donor scar that is not visible unless the patient shaves his head.
Please forgive the photos not be more uniform as the patient is not from this area and sent in his after photos and also wants to remain for now anonymous.

Patient comes in for Follow up ten days post op

This is ten days after surgery. This patient's suture will continue to heal and fade for one year. People are paying 3-4 times our cost for FUE and not getting the results we are.

Fixing a FUE Patient

This patient had a strip surgery ten years ago and a FUE a couple years ago. Patient was not happy with either scar. Dr. Bolton took both previous procedure scars out. You will get to follow this case in the next few months as the patient gets his results. You can see the FUE is not a scar less surgery as touted. It leaves a circular scar. You can also see there are not many which means the procedure did not yield much hair. The patient paid a premium for the "scar less" surgery which left scars and had a minimal result. Also notice the circular scars go above the typical donor area. It is not uncommon for doctors who do this procedure to take hairs outside the safe zone. There is probability that these hairs will thin and fall out as the patient ages because they were not harvested from the safe zone.

Get Bonus: Extra hair with Dr. Bolton

Dr. Bolton is unique in so many ways. His ability to consistently get his patients significant results in one procedure, give them 100% of his focus on their surgery day, and not give primarily micro grafts to his patients.
We have not talked about this too much on this site but another unique aspect of Dr. Bolton's procedure is to get his patients hairs other doctors won't. Most doctors stay between the ears when removing the donor strip. Dr. Bolton will actually go past each ear. This in some cases can deliver an extra 2,000 - 3,000 hairs more then other doctor's maximum size cases. It's like getting bonus hair which can enable Dr. Bolton to get you more density or put hair into another area that might not have been covered without getting these extra hairs. If you study Dr. Bolton's photos on his site, which are primarily one procedure only, you will see that he can cover large areas and get excellent density in one procedure.

British Soccer Star has Hair Restoration Procedure

Wayne Rooney a soccer player from the UK made the news the last few days because he went public and tweeted about his hair transplant.
The headlines says he paid 30,000 pounds (US $50,000) for a procedure that covered just the frontal 1/3 portion of his balding area. It is absurd to pay that much for so little hair. It says in the article he had the procedure over a two day span. Two days for maybe 2,000 hairs? The article also mentioned it is a two step process requiring him to repeat shortly.
This is the latest hype to plague the hair restoration field. First, it was lasers to make recepient sites, then PRP, A Cell, and now FUE. FUE will also follow in the footsteps of these aforementioned "breakthroughs". FUE is great for a doctor who puts his revenue and ability to market ahead of a patients comfort, budget and results. FUE is limited due to the extraction method. The FUE method is time consuming and to pull one follicle out at a time and hope it is not damaged is unethical. This can take a few days to get a yield that Dr. Bolton can exceed in 15 minutes. Dr. Bolton delivers 2-3 times more hair and his procedures are less then 5 hours. FUE also limits the size of the grafts to mainly one and two hairs thus limiting density.
My guess is Mr. Rooney got his procedure gratis in exchange for the publicity for the clinic. It is nice to see a high profile person go public but unfortunately his choice of procedure(FUE) will be doing many people a disservice in that they will overpay, go through needless discomfort and get a limited result. People are attracted to this procedure because it is touted as a scarless procedure. There is no such thing and you are starting to see a good number of people on the internet searching how to fix their scarless scars. Please see Dr. Bolton's www.greathairtransplants.com and you will see at least 30 examples of his patients donor scars that are undetectable. Click on the home page and select what does a donor scar look like? Why pay more then double for less hair and less results?

Follow up with Patient over the phone 2 months postoperative

I spoke to a patient yesterday who sent in his photos at the two month mark. He also included his photos of his scalp immediately after the procedure, at the 1 month and two month mark. This young man travelled in from North Florida after having had two previous procedures elsewhere with minimal results and unsatisfactory scarring to the donor area. Patient is African-American and likes to wear his hair short. His first procedure was with MHR and second procedure with Dr. Cole who performed FUE.
Dr. Bolton was able to remove all previous scarring and after 2 months the patients is already encouraged by his healing and the minimal scar left. Patient was informed healing and scar will continue to improve up to one year from procedure. This patient is detailed oriented and documents everything and has done extensive research. I invited him to publish on our blog or forum and also the national blogs. He assured me he will but wants to wait a few more months untill he has more substantial results as people on blogs love to rip people before they have their results.
It is a great feeling to know that you work for a doctor that is able to do for people what few if any others can do. I am fortunate to have found Dr. Bolton. The patient who does a bit more research then average will also be fortunate to find a doctor who due to his unique talents and abilities over 15 years and thousands of cases is able to accomplish what few or none can. People are paying more then double to doctors who tout "scarless" surgeries and don't deliver on their promises.
We look forward to seeing Dr. Bolton deliver substantial results with undetectable donor scarring once again.

Another undetectable donor scar!

This is ten days after the procedure and the sutures were removed.
The only thing showing is the remaining crusts that stuck to the suture line. Dr. Bolton consistently leaves a suture line similar to the edge of a piece of paper. He does not charge extra for this unique and special skill. In twelve years of working in this field and having observed the work of hundreds of doctors I've never seen anyone with Dr. Boilton's skill set.

Four Months Post-Op Follow -Up Beginning to Grow New Hair

Update!

Final results.  This patient had a prior procedure elsewhere from the big corporate hair chain.
