Dr. Bolton preps the donor area and prepares to excise the donor strip and eliminate the scars from the two prior procedures before Dr. Bolton. One linear scar from a procedure ten years ago and the polka dot scars from the FUE surgery a few years back. The FUE was and is presented to patient's as a scarless surgery. It is not.
September 30, 2011: The hair is cut short and there is no detectability of any donor scars despite the fact that this is the patient's third surgery. This is the patient's first surgery with Dr. Bolton who cleaned up the scars from the first two surgeries. This is another example of a patient who got more substantial results from one procedure in six months time then he received from his two prior procedures elsewhere.

Dr. Bolton had a FUE hair repair in the office today.
Patient paid a premium for FUE extraction and also had previous strip surgery elsewhere. The patient did tremendous research and travelled in for his procedure. One of the most knowledgeable patients we have ever met. Unfortunately, it was not translating to a significant result. We are confident that this procedure will surpass his two prior procedures considerably. He has promised that once he starts to get his results he will share his photos.
Note the FUE scars in the donor area. You can also see they took follicles from above the normal safe area. This is typical of FUE as many FUE doctors don't adhere to the normal accepted practices of ethical hair restoration surgeons. As this procedure becomes more popular due to the financial incentives and marketing of the "latest, cutting edge procedure" we will see many more FUE repair patients. It is unfortunate that people (doctors) are motivated by money and don't do what is in the best interest of their patients. If you believe that given a choice to make $15,000-$30,000 on one case as opposed to $10,000 a doctor will choose $10,000? This is the choice right now for doctors. Patient beware of all the FUE hair repair that will be coming down the pike in the next few years.
It is interesting to note that after 4 months this patient has already achieved stronger results then in his past two procedures for a fraction of the cost. The hair in the donor is short and there is no evidence of a donor scar despite the fact that this is his third surgery. Dr. Bolton removed his numerous prior scars from the two previous doctors and has left the patient with one donor scar that is not visible unless the patient shaves his head.
Please forgive the photos not be more uniform as the patient is not from this area and sent in his after photos and also wants to remain for now anonymous.
